A Blog at last

01.08.2005

After some deliberation on the subject, I decided that having a blog would be a nice way to keep everybody updated on what is happening here in Trondheim. It also has the added benefit that I can put down my thoughts on paper – so to speak. In the hope that some people who are not from Germany might also at some point be interested in my blog, I am keeping this in English.

A self-introduction might be a good start to this:

I am Andreas Steffen, 21 years old, 183 cm tall and a german national. I have blond hair, a stout figure and blue eyes. I speak German and English well, French and Spanish a little bit and I am currently learning Norwegian Bokmål. For the past three years I have studied physics in Aachen. Couple months ago I decided that it was time to broaden my horizon a little and applied for an Erasmus exchange to Trondheim. I got a place, and am now happily hacking away in my little hybel. My hobbies include reading, singing, computers, cooking, listening to music, physics, hiking and generally odd stuff. I always have a weak spot for sarcasm or any kind of wit. The reason I study physics out of all things is that I am very curious and quite playful. Physics allows me to be both and enjoy myself.
Generally speaking, I am a very happy person. I always like to enjoy myself and if someone thinks that maybe I am a little bit lazy or given to pleasure, well, they’re right. I always try to remain calm and reasonable, although there are times when something or someone really gets on my nerves.

So far for general me, but right now me is sitting in front of my computer hacking away. In the past week I have met a ton of new people, almost all of which I quite like. I went on a weekend trip, I did a lot of shopping, and I think I am really starting to like this city. The most moving moment I had while in Trondheim so far was on departure from the island we had stayed on over the weekend, when I thought while getting on the bus, “in four hours we’ll be home.” That was a very nice thing :)
